Female, DSH Black, DOB 17/01/2021
Hello… my name is Tess. I’m not usually the first one to speak up, but I’m trying my best to be brave.
I’m four years old, with a sleek black coat that I like to keep tidy—when you’re quiet like me, you find comfort in small routines. I may not rush to the front of the room when people visit the shelter, but I always notice kindness. If you sit with me, gently and patiently, I’ll inch closer… maybe even nudge your hand if I’m feeling extra bold that day.
You see, the shelter can feel a little overwhelming sometimes. All the sounds, the new faces—it’s a lot for a cat like me. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want love. In fact, I do. Very much. I just need a little more time than others to feel safe enough to show it.
When things are quiet and calm, that’s when I shine. I’ll curl beside you, blink slowly, and purr softly when I know I’m home. I don’t ask for much—just someone gentle, patient, and willing to let me come out of my shell at my own pace.
I might not be the cat who climbs into your lap right away, but I’ll be the one who learns to trust you, who chooses you, and who loves you in the quietest, most heartfelt way.
If you’re someone who understands that love can take time—and that shy doesn’t mean unloving—I think we could be a perfect match.
Come see me soon at APS.
